Ruth and Ben were guests at Lenore and Liam’s Kelham Island Wedding
and asked I if was available to capture there own on New Year’s Eve in Manchester. A very big “yes!” was the answer.
So early on New Years Eve morning I set off over the snake pass to Manchester and the Victoria and Albert Hotel where Ruth was busy preparing with her sister and family. With custom “Bride” and “Bridesmaids” shirts they were easy to spot!
It was then onto the wedding ceremony at Manchester Cathedral, which is normally pretty epic but with the addition of the huge Christmas tree inside I could see why Ruth and Ben had picked the date! It was a beautiful service, complete with carols during which the only time the bride stopped grinning was the first kiss.
Now Ruth and Ben had booked a post wedding session with me for some portraits somewhere a bit more scenic than Manchester city centre after the wedding day. It’s a great alternative to an engagement session and an excuse to get the wedding attire on again with a little more time available than on the wedding day itself. It also showed the benefits of Ruth’s dried flower bouquet! We made the most of this when we met up a few weeks later at a snow covered Roaches.
Back to the day itself we did grab some rather cool urban portraits to give Manchester its due as the guests made their way to the reception at Salvi’s Mozzarella Bar & Restaurant
. With drinks in the Mozzarella bar and then onto the wedding breakfast in the Salvi’s subterranean restaurant the evening descended.
After the meal the speeches preluded a stonking two hour set by the Pick-Me-Ups as the newlyweds took there first dance and the guests joined them to dance the night away as the New Year arrived.
What a way to see out 2017 and see in 2018!
